The Kalikalos international living-learning summer school offers workshops, retreats, workcamps and living-in-community experience during the summer months in Greece between mid May and mid October. Our mission is basically educational: holistic education, which we teach through action learning. We operate as a seasonal but authentic
ecovillage, sharing all the values of the international ecovillage movement, of which we are a member.
The staff is made up entirely of volunteers and interns who come for
periods ranging from 2 to 12 weeks. Applicants who have not had
previous ecovillage living/working experience are welcome to apply
for work exchange (accomodation in exchange for 30 hrs/week) after an
initial two-week orientation during which we ask for a financial
contribution of $100/week toward food and accomodation.
Although many volunteers tend to focus their activities on the
gardens, they often find themselves expanding into the other areas of
service, such as building and maintenance, vegetarian cookery,
alternative technology, etc. that the project offers. As we operate
as a full community, everyone here helps with the cooking, cleaning
and Centre maintenance.
