General Program Information

University of Tartu offers several opportunities for international students to study in English:

1. Master's degrees of programs: Baltic Studies with majors in Media, Business Administration and Baltic Studies, Financial and Actuarial Mathematics, Applies Measurements Science, EU-Russian Studies with major in EU and Russian Studies, Foreign Languages and Literature (Estonian and Finno-Ugric, Russian, English, German, Romance, Scandinavian), NordSecMob: Security and Mobile Computing, and IMESS: Economy, State and Society.

2. Semester study abroad programs: EU Studies, Eastern European Studies, Politics and Society of the Baltic States, History of Culture of the Baltic States, Business and Administration, Creation of the Rule of Law Society in Post-Communist Europe, Russian Language, Literature and Culture (this last module is instructed in Russian, not English).

3. Summer short-term programs: Global Business from the Local Perspective, European Integration and Russian Foreign Policy, Procedures in European International Courts, Building Information Society and E-Government, Estonian and Russian as Foreign Languages.

Founded in 1632, the University of Tartu has 18,000 students and is famous for research-based education and lively student traditions. The University of Tartu has 10 faculties, 5 colleges and several specialized research institutes. It is the only Baltic University member of Coimbra group, uniting reputable European research universities of long-standing traditions.

Estonia offers a unique perspective on the successful transition to democracy and recent accession to the EU. Tartu is Estonia's second largest city, with 100,00 people, and is located 2.5 hours from the airport and sea port of Tallinn, with connections to major cities in Europe and Russia. English is spoken widely here, and with students making up one fifth of the population, Tartu is a true University of town.
